Tennessee EMS CE Requirements & Recertification Instructions

Recertification Requirements and Instructions

Two year renewal period.

EMS Professional renewal date is based on the individual’s birth month and year. EMS Professional license will expire on the last day of the individual’s birth month in either an odd or even year depending on whether the individual was born in an odd or even year. Example: Birthday 12-05-1972, expiration date, 12-31-2010.

 

EMT requirements including the following:

  1. Payment of renewal fees
  2. Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Healthcare Provider or equivalent
  3. Successful completion for an EMS Board approved written examination OR
  4. Completion of twenty (20) continuing education hours approved by the EMS Board. Five (5) of the twenty (20) hours must be in pediatric related topics OR
  5. Completion of two (2) college credit hours in EMT related topics

 

AEMT requirements including the following:

  1. Payment of renewal fees
  2. Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Healthcare Provider or equivalent
  3. Successful completion for an EMS Board approved written examination OR
  4. Completion of twenty-five (25) continuing education hours approved by the EMS Board. Eight (8) of the twenty –five (25) hours must be in pediatric related topics OR
  5. Completion of two (2) college credit hours in AEMT related topics

 

Paramedic requirements include the following:

  1. Payment of renewal fees
  2. Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Healthcare Provider or equivalent
  3. Successful completion for an EMS Board approved written examination OR
  4. Completion of thirty-two (32) continuing education hours approved by the EMS Board. Eight (8) of the thirty-two (32) hours must be in pediatric related topics OR
  5. Completion of three (3) college credit hours in Paramedic related topics
